Getting to Plantcity was a nightmare. The administration department told me they set up my transportation to the facility. They got me a greyhound bus ticket which was a 4 hour ride that dropped me off in downtown Tampa at midnight. When I got there I called the number of whom I spoke to that set up my transportation thinking she’d then order an Uber. No answer. I then called the original administration number and spoke to someone who was going to figure out what the next step was. She said she’d make a couple calls and call me back. There I stood downtown, in the middle of the night waiting for 15-20 minutes. When she did call back she told me she wasn’t able to get ahold of anyone and the best thing I could do was Uber myself to the facility in Plantcity and that I could then get reimbursed. I told her that I didn’t have any money and wasn’t able to do that. She told me she wasn’t able to get an Uber and she’d call me back again once she was able to find out what the next step was. I never received another phone call. After about 30 more minutes I was able to call a family member who would get the Uber ride for me since I was going to be able to reimburse them. I was given excuse after excuse and different people and phone numbers to call from a number of different staff members for me to get it resolved. Finally, after I left the facility I was told that whitesands was not responsible for transportation costs and that I would not get any refund.

Nicole my therapist and my case manager Angel were immaculate. My case manager is a strong woman who was immediately there for me. Thank you Angel. I know there’s two Angels there but you know who you are. And my boy Danny was very professional and became a good friend . My girl Rosy and my boy AZ were very professional and became my friend.

Most notably Brandy my Case Manager. It's refreshing to have someone that you need to rely on, be so incredibly capable. She's always wearing a smile, which I've learned can be contagious. #1 BEST PROGRAM IN FLORIDA! From the kindness of the BHT technicians, to the knowledgeable and caring therapists, and the knowledgeable and caring case workers(I.E. Brandy/Xavier). Excellent classes and many activities and amenities. AND A SHOUT OUT TO SHANNON AND JASON, THEY DO AN EXCELLENT JOB!! SAVING LIVES ONE LIFE AT A TIME. HIGHLY RECOMMEND/5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD

I just successfully completed a 21 day program at White Sands. The entire staff was amazing, and extra Kudos to my Counselor Thomas, and my favorite BHT Maria. The reason that I am only giving the facility a 3 star is because a good portion of the clientele / patients were overwhelmingly distractive. From what I understand while talking to patients who have been to White Sand's multiple times, they never seen it that bad. A lot of Court order , Homeless , Mental patients were allowed in during my stay's time period. I understand that addiction doesn't discriminate when it comes to race / gender / sexual preference, but these people did not want to be there for help, they were either forced or better off from where they came from. If I could make a suggestion if you are going to allow these type of patients into the facility, Security and BHT's have to step up their game and enforce the rules to the fullest, and weed out the people who are distracting to other patients. I actually felt sorry for the BHT's who were verbally abused to a point where it made me feel uncomfortable. In Conclusion, very good facility and staff, need to work on clientele and enforcing rules.

Whit sands on Verne street Tampa FL is nothing at all who or what advertise. They do not offer any of the items that they tell you they None of items come with it it’s because they have not paid for memberships. They are going in as a guest. You have to fill out paperwork every time you go to the gym each day to work out because they are not a member nor are you a member you are going in as a guest as you have to fill out your information each time on iPad on my last day June 15, 2024 they asked me to come into a conference room to speak with me prior to that on June 14. I reported that my roommate put dish detergent in my drink , I saw her and witnessed her put the dish detergent in my drink. I reported it to the worker Tony he asked for the drink did nothing with it. I grievance which was never talked about or no follow up information. Once they asked me to come into this conference room they were bring new patient in my space before asking me to leave. I spoke with Christina and requested that I pack my own, items they refused to allow me to pack my items. Well I called police Toney worker verbally abused me at that point they didn’t want to take me to airport. They didn’t provide me with aftercare so I got my items took them across the street. I had to wait till next morning till my mom can help me. I slept outside all night. this is White Sand review on my outtake, and what happened to me. Also, they stole from me they took over $500 worth of items from me. All of my items were not there. They were taken. Staff has stolen all of my items that I have brought and purchased since being there.

I was sent home on my first day after I shared that my wife was an alcoholic in recovery (I live with her and I was commuting into php bc they didn’t have beds available). I shared this and other confidential information with the therapist and she had no issues. I then shared it with the nurse and this woman had an attitude from the start, then proceeds to discharge me from the program (after I had already started therapy and was excited for it) bc of this trivial situation I went through with my wife. My wife is currently sober. I was very upset and hurt and I let them know I could relapse over this. This heartless nurse then proceeds to add insult to injury and calls my wife, telling her: he’s “probably on kratom”, something I used to drink at legal Kava bars (instead of alcohol), which I shared in CONFIDENCE with them. I’m on naloxone! Kratom would have no effect! I was very, very upset. The php nurse should be fired immediately. I’ve never experienced such cold, calculating, callous behavior in my life from a center that “helps” alcoholics in my life. Wow. Negative 10 stars. They set me up for failure, then call my wife and rub salt in my wounds. This place is horrible. Send your love ones elsewhere. There is a nurse here who has no regard for human life. With the stuff on the streets nearby, it could mean their demise. Try somewhere else. Awful!
