My friend is in your facility. I have called her on several occasions in the evening. I try to be mindful of the shift change, and not call during those times. However, when I did call the telephone rang 5/6 times with no answer. I have to call at least 4 times before someone answers. When someone answers I am put on hold for 15 to 20 minutes or until I just hang up. I called back and a man answered when I asked for my friend he just hung up the phone. I pray that I never need your service. This makes me wonder how are the patients being treated or cared for.

My Aunt is there and shouldn’t be smoking however we were told she gets them when she goes out in the yard however. Every facility should have someone monitoring the patients anything could happen to any of them including the ones who’s allowed to smoke. My aunts medical condition doesn’t permits her to smoke. She’s been hospitalized and place on the ventilator twice. What call will we get the next time. The state needs to get involved if this happen again. YARD TIMES MUST AND SHOULD BE MONITORED FOR RESIDENTS SAFETY ALL!!!

I am sorry to write this unpleasant review because so many staff people were so kind and do their best under difficult circumstances but in the end, the management made some very bad decisions that put my ex-husband in danger.

The first challenge we had to endure was isolation due to a COVID-19 outbreak. My ex-husband is deaf and had lost his hearing aids and his glasses before entering the hospital for surgery. When he was released to the Rehabilitation Center of Oakland they assumed he had dementia when he didn’t respond appropriately to people speaking to him wearing masks. I informed them of his need for those devices and since he is a MediCal and Medicare patient who is also eligible for social services the social worker on site should have arranged for those but nothing happened. I purchased some reading glasses for him that helped but he still couldn’t see TV which was the only distraction available to him in quarantine.

Then, though he was having balance issues, he got out of bed alone (age 77) and fell trying to go to the bathroom because no one was available to help him. He returned to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken neck and given a neck brace and a walker and returned to Rehabilitation Center of Oakland for physical therapy. They did a pretty good job of that. They then became very concerned about his discharge, and assumed he would live with me. I reminded them that he is a social services client and their responsibility is to find him a safe place to live. They offered two places, one in the same neighborhood where he was assaulted numerous times and another that was unsavory. My ex-husband actually found a place for himself by some miracle that was affordable and safe but had no way to apply and asked if I could take him (given COVID-19 restrictions). He obtained permission, and was told that he would have to go into isolation when he returned.

Happily, he got the place, and I took him back to pack up his things. I went to work expecting to pick him up at 6:30 after supper. Meanwhile, they opened the door to him, he was masked, and he went to his room to lie down and rest. The next thing he knew, he was told that he had been discharged when he left the building, and he was now trespassing and had to leave immediately. He was, understandably, confused, but started packing his things. When the social worker returned with the police to tell him he had to leave immediately even the police couldn’t understand and asked “Can’t he just sit in the lobby and wait for his ride?”. Apparently not. He was sent to the parking lot, in a t-shirt with no coat, and his belongings were brought to him in numerous tote bags and he was told to leave the premises. This old man dragged his belongings to bus atop where he could sit and wait for me to pick him up, alone, in the dark now, and getting chilly. Fortunately, he has a cell phone and though he didn’t want to bother me at work, he called and I arranged for him to be picked up.

I called Rehabilitation Center of Oakland to find out how this happened and requested that the director call me with some explanation. I am an ex-wife so I had to be authorized by the patient to speak with them on his behalf, and I was, but I have not heard a word. I messaged the social worker on her cell with the same request. I’m not holding my breath... I am just grateful that nothing terrible happened.

This was the worst rehab place I've been I could write a book on all the things wrong with this place. A lot of the people who work here are very nice people. My problem was not with the staff but the way they worked is my biggest complaint. The food is about a 2 out of 5. I'll just say this I was there for 30 days and they give you coffee with no Choice of creamer, eggs and bread was all I would get for breakfast. This place was just not a good experience.

DO NOT COME HERE-
-My father stayed there for a couple months and he went to the hospital and they didn’t even know he left. They can’t even keep track of there patients
-The food is absolutely disgusting to the point where it’s not edible
-They let the patients do whatever they want
-My father was a alcoholic and they let him drink without a care in the world
-If you try to call you won’t get through or it will ring for over an hour

if i could give it zero stars i would. my father has been there two weeks and almost zero communication with staff. tried to see him and they would not accommodate me so i left my info with staff to have case worker call and guess what, no call. i would barg in and grab him if i wouldnt go to jail

In all fairness at first I thought it was going to be horrible but turned out to be a pretty nice place, even through this covid thing. The food wasn't the greatest but still pretty ok. The staff was great and always there to help.
