An amazing place for recovery. Not only do they help with the physical side of things but also the mental. The staff are caring and loving and truly have a passion for their jobs as well as the clients. Wonderful living conditions and plenty of options for food. And the community of people there really are supportive of each other and the recovery. By the end you feel as part of a family with everyone. I can say by far this is the best recovery I’ve been to.
Something different about this place is they let you have your cellphone, so you can still be connected and deal with the outside world. This is helpful because it allows you to be connected with family or friends, deal with finances, and also deal with the same possible struggles but from a safe and nurturing environment where you have a team of people that can help.
Classes everyday but not in an overwhelming manner. Plenty of breaks during.
Smoking and vaping is allowed in designated areas. You’re allowed to get mail, packages and approved items from stores while there, including clothes and food/snack items if you want.
It’s all in all, it’s a place where you can get better while not feeling trapped or you can’t be yourself. I did a 30 day stay, and would happily answer any questions.
They offer up to a 90 day stay if you desire as well for a maximum treatment process.
Can’t stress enough how great this place is.
Thank you Mountain Springs Recovery. You saved my life in every way.

My experience at MSR has been transformative, having attended multiple recovery centers over the past year. MSR stands out for its exceptional program, offering a unique combination of compassionate staff, highly skilled facilitators, and top-notch amenities that create a welcoming and comfortable environment. The staff's unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in my recovery journey, while the group sessions have been both insightful and empowering. For anyone seeking a program that genuinely makes a difference, MSR provides the structure, care, and resources needed for lasting change.

There were several other facilitators that made this an easy place to succeed and I thank each and everyone for doing so.

All and all a 8/10 . The faculty is a remodeled Ramada. Lots of stairs and walking between buildings. You’ll have Roommate similar to you. The room and bedding is cleaned weekly. You can bring your cellphone and laptop. But the wifi is poor around peak times. I had to use my phon’s hotspot 80% of the time .

The food is 4/5. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between ( bagels, toast , lunch meat , cream cheese , jams , butter , coffee, tea, cereal . They have vending machines for soda, chips and candy.

The groups are a mixed bag of teaching styles . Depending on who you are . You’ll have your favorites. But each one had an excellent perspective. They also have peer lead groups such has AA, Dharma , NA.

The extra activities they offer . The pool is clean and heated . They have fishing poles for their pond. The club house and library.

You’ll be in there with many walks of life suffering with different addictions . Remember you are there for you . You’ll be in the mountains . The weather changes rapidly. So pack accordingly. Also bring a reusable water bottle .

I recommend this place . Just make sure your insurance covers a majority of it.

I was an inpatient at MSR in 2022, almost 2 years ago, and as this was my first rehab experience ever, it was literally everything I wanted and more. I flew all the way from Northern IL because I already felt so at home in Colorado and while researching online, I just felt like this was the one. I felt really blessed they took my insurance. I had an initial out of pocket payment of $300 and I believe my BCBS insurance took care of the rest. The facility itself actually used to be a hotel, and the layout of the campus/buildings and how they connect to each other are so so cool. The staff was kind, passionate, friendly, supportive, empathetic, and understanding while still being a very motivational, no nonsense team of leaders. As long as you don’t act like a jerk/fool, the staff is pretty relaxed. We got to use our phones, laptops, etc. The gym was a great stress reliever. And the pool- don’t even get me started on how fun that was. We had a certain schedule during the day and we had evenings free to do what we please. The food they provided was a variety of healthy, fresh cooked meals (kitchen staff was so sweet, too). Once you reach the PHP level, you’re allowed to join a group (think it’s called S.M.A.R.T) that does outside activities like hiking, swimming at a lake, equestrian, etc. AND they had field trips I think every week. Really cool places too. Therapy/counseling that is 1 on 1 a couple times a week. We even had a sandpit with a volleyball net up where we even held our own tournaments. Honestly, it was dope… I’m not even kidding, of course there were times I just wanted to go back home, but 90% of the time- I didn’t want to leave. I never got to go to college, but I called MSR “sober college” because of your class/group schedules, extracurricular activities, the food, the “dorm rooms”, etc. I could go on and on but overall, It was great and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Chris and the whole staff have been everything I needed and more! From the minute I walked through the door, everyone was eager to help and was genuinely happy to see me. I’ve been to many rehabs before and this was BY FAR the best. My therapist was amazing, the food was delicious, and the hospitality was unbelievable.

The beds and pillows were some of the best I’ve experienced and the activities I experienced are fun and entertaining.

Anyone considering treatment for mental health and/or substance abuse should come here!!!

I dont want to write a novel review, however for the person looking for an in depth review and perspective coming from a professional who needed to attend rehab/treatment this might be for you.
I struggled with a certain substance for 8+ years and finally had enough. I work fully remote and wanted to keep this treatment under the rug, so I had no choice but to find a facility that was laptop and smart phone friendly. I called around to 25+ facilities and Sunshine was the only place that would allow devices. Being from Dallas I wanted to be at a location somewhat distant from my house but not too far. After speaking to admissions we decided MSR was the right direction for me. Its up in the Colorado mountains and the scenery is beautiful. I called into admissions on a tuesday and was fully admitted by thursday after insurance approved. I was on a flight friday night and checked in around 1130pm.
Being my first time ever to any kind of treatment, I was terrified, anxious, depressed, all the above. Not knowing what lies ahead and also the feeling of going through detox was massively overwhelming. My inital plan was the be there for 30 days.
im a little older (37), my biggest concern was being around kids all day who are forced there by their parents or by a judge.
Once my plane landed, i grabbed my luggage and a rep picked me up outside the gates. its about an hour drive south to Monument. Once there i went through intake which is basically an interview and health assessment. After that they gave me a slight tour then directed me to my room which was pretty nice and cozy.
the next day I toured the facility by myself and was slightly impressed with the facility especially the kitchen and dining area. they have all sorts of food available 24/7. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are actually pretty decent and the kitchen staff are really nice.
Being worried about being somewhat older, i felt a lot more comfortable after seeing the breakfast and lunch crowd.
i would guess out of the 120 clients there, 50% are between the ages of 18-25, 35% 25-35, 10% 35-45, 10% 45+.
for those who have never been to treatment, your first week there youll be in detox. after that you move into residential which you move into a different building (you do have a roommate the entire time). once you move into residential you then start group therapy (groups) and youre assigned a group color, your therapy group is around 10-15 other people.
the medical staff there is amazing and very friendly, especially the head nurse Shay. she is the difference maker and they make sure youre comfortable the entire time there.
again, the kitchen staff there goes above and beyond. the meals are a hit and miss.. breakfast is the same every morning.
as far as the front desk staff... theres a few who are very nice and theres a few who speak down to you and treat you like a child which didnt jive well with me at all. were paying a lot of money to be there to seek treatment and the last thing any adult needs is to be spoken down upon like a child.
the counselors there are all amazing, especially Chandler. that guy brings joy and laughter into every session.
overall, being my first time to a rehab facility i walked out of there a better, smarter and overall more educated about my entire outlook.
If i had to do it all over again, i wouldnt change a thing.
if i had to recommend a facility it would be MSR.
overall, the experience was a good one.
