Came here after my husband suffered a massive stroke. He couldn’t speak the first 2 weeks we were here and they were pretty attentive. Of course there were some nurses that were not as good as the others. Overall they all did a good job taking care of him. We are very appreciative of all they have done for him.

Night nurse Macy on the ICU floor was absolutely amazing! She takes pride in her job and really cares for her patients.
Nurse tech Hilda on floor 2 was absolutely amazing. She remembered every time that my husband's left hip was in pain and she made sure that whoever was helping her change him knew as well and was careful with him. She did a very thorough job. Always made sure he was clean and comfortable!
PT Mark and OT Jasmine were both so great. They always lightened the mood with their bright personalities. They also made sure my husband knew he was doing a good job.
Latrella was another one that stood out to me. She made sure she stayed on my husband for his own good. She was very nice with it but she made sure he was doing what he needed to get moving around again.

Mixed emotions with Kindred. My dad was transferred to Encompass, which I am so thankful for so he was able to leave kindred. Personally felt that my dad could have been treated better under their care at times. I’ll never forget the time I walked in and he had been ringing his bell (nurse bed buttons were not working) and had been trying to get ice and water since 12pm. I had showed up about 4 pm and I myself had to walk to the nurse station and wait for a nurse to come see what I needed. He had absolutely nothing to drink. The many times his lien wasn’t changed, the times he had a bowl moment/ urine and was responsible for deposing of it himself in the trash can right next to his bed 85% of the time. Mind you he wasn’t not able to walk or get out of bed on his own. I’m thankful for a few things kindred did, the trach they did, and 3 ICU nurses who gave me some little bit of hope. & I think about those 3 everyday and can’t thank them enough for all they did and how well they communicated with me. The saddest part is I’ve never heard anything positive about kindred from the people i personally knew around me. Thought there is no way. Until i experienced it myself first hand. I know my father wasn’t the easier patient, but even the circumstances I understand why he felt and acted the way he did at times. I did report my issues to the chief clinical officer. I just hope in the future for future patients they will hear what I’ve said in this review and try to better moving forward. I know all healthcare workers have more than one patient to take care of & how challenging it can be. One last thing I want to point out- my dad constantly complained his bed was uncomfortable and was sitting on a board/ a hole in his bed. Nobody listened. The day he was transferred the sheets were removed and you could see the hole/ and feel how hard that spot was he was sitting on. I saw it with my own eyes. I personally thank kindred for most of the things they did- but I don’t think I would let my father go back if something were to happen in the future due to the few small but big to me that happened during his stay.

Almost everyone was great. I had a couple issues but they got resolved. Food was okay for hospital food. My 2 big issues were being served a food I am allergic to and one night I was left for 7 hours with my wound exposed because my nurse didn't know what to do. Outside of those 2 things everyone was friendly and kind. My wound was on my butt so the staff made sure I stayed as decent possible when changing my dressing and helping me get up. Overall it was a good experience

In October of 2023, my father was transferred to this facility from a hospital in Waco for rehabilitation following acute respiratory distress due to COVID. Despite his underlying health conditions, he left Waco in a strong, healthy state, prepared for his rehab journey. However, we soon encountered significant concerns with his care at this facility.

My dad required a bipap machine at night to support the healing process. This facility only offered two ill-fitting options, a small and large size. Both were inadequate and caused discomfort. Despite repeated requests from my family and I for a better fitting mask, our concerns were never addressed, leading to ongoing issues including air leakage and extreme discomfort that eventually led to bruising and cuts on his face from the straps.

At one point, my dad was moved to a room in the ICU with non-functional amenities, including the TV and sink. This inconvenience persisted due to administration being absent on the weekends, and unable to fix anything.

Moreover, the facility experienced shortages of essential medications, which in my dad’s case was Ativan. All they did was substitute it with a less potent, and less effective alternative. All because management was gone on the weekends, and could not order more.

There was an inconsistency in visitor policies that added to our frustrations. Rules fluctuated without clear justification, dependent on daily-staffing whims rather than patient-centered outcomes. My family and I would drive nearly two hours to visit my dad, but sometimes would have to take turns visiting while others sat in the hallway.

Furthermore, the lack of continuity of care was alarming. The nursing staff appeared unorganized and often uninformed about my dad’s medical history. They were never in any rush, even with all the bells and whistles alerting them of my dad’s oxygen dropping, or heart rate jumping up. We would have to go tell them as they sat at the nurses station. Nurse Grace and respiratory therapist Brandon were a couple of people who stood out, they both provided exceptional empathy and competence, and served as beacons of compassion in an otherwise disappointing environment.

Lastly, the transition to hospice care was completely mishandled by Dr. Quang Le. He seemed to have no sense of urgency, and definitely had no empathy. My dad had to wait over 24 hours for increased dosages of morphine and Ativan, all because Dr. Le could not get there earlier in the day to sign only a couple of papers. Once he finally did get on hospice, that was a mess in itself. This facility is not prepared for death, as they were unable to help at all with final arrangements. This forced my mom to make a rushed decision at 2am in choosing a morgue in a city we were very unfamiliar with.

While I do not attribute my father’s death solely to the care received at this facility, the numerous lapses in treatment and management created unnecessary hardships, both on my dad and the rest of the family, in his final weeks.

I know this review is long, but if you take anything from it, just be sure you do ample research before sending your loved one to this facility. I would never send someone I care about back to this place.

I can’t say enough how much better this rehabilitation center is compared with the one the hospital sent my mother to months before. The place looks state of the art, clean, professional, and looks much more like a hospital setting than a run down nursing home. There is a on site bistro here which I can’t wait to visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and I cannot say enough about Kevin Miller, a tech/aide here. He is super attentive, helpful and warm, and provides you with all your needs in a flash. I’m so happy my mother is in good hands here!

I first want to say the nursing staff and doctors have been amazing. The cleaning staff has been pretty good as well. It's the case worker name Laura who has been God awful. She needs to be retrained or transferred to somewhere. She only cares about insurance and money. She will discharge your loved ones even if they have a huge hole in their head. She is the absolute worst person working at Kindred. She gets a frigging fat 0 rating

I was at Arlington Memorial Hospital and not a stranger to Kindred I wanted to go their because I knew I would have great care . My mother was here and a dear friend has been here several times. I've been in several hospitals and never have I come across a great nurse as Todd is. Lola my tech is a very sweet and compassion lady. Dan also is good at what he does. Overall everyone has been very helpful and I appreciate it.
Well I'm back to Kindred SW. Once again I have received excellent care. Was great seeing the ones who took care of me the last time and now. Todd and John are exceptional nurses. Morgan in pulmonary rehab is a delight

I would not leave a family member here without cameras to watch the situation due to patient neglect.. Every day there are patients crying and begging for help but they are being ignored by staff. When I used my call button to tell the staff to go take care of the patient yelling that he needed help I was laughed at. Having patients that need this amount of care and not providing it by way of hospital sitter or caregiver is not only unfair to the patient but the staff as well as it causes them undo stress and extra work that they shouldn't have to deal with. The nurses do not know how to take care of lines. They don't clean the hub before attaching syringes or lines. When asked to clean it the barely swipe over them with an alcohol wipe instead of scrubbing them. They drop lines on the floor and then puck them up an attach them without cleaning them, touching the trash and not changing their gloves. I have had a nurse that it was questionable if it was safe for them to be caring for patients with hooded eyes, slightly slurred speech and slow movements. All that being said, the nurses and tech were all very nice and caring. The wound care nurses and i did disagree on the care of my wound as i felt they should be following the drs instructions for care and they were following their protocol. On top of all that there is a lack in the cleaning and turn over of rooms between patients. I was on quarantine with an infectious disease and if they hadn't properly cleaned the room before I arrived I don't have a lit of confidence that they didn't clean it after I was discharged. I have a medical condition that sometimes causes me to get dizzy and even on occasion loose consciousness when going from a sitting to standing position. There are no hand rails in the bathroom so I was left with an u steady potty chair thats handle was duct taped on. Also, if I had fallen there is no way to get to the call light because it was blocked buy other items. When this was discussed with admin I was told that it would be dealt with but then given a letter stating that they rreviewed my cocerns and found nothing wrong. Overall I would not recommend recommend this place in the state that it is in now for anyone isn't very alert and aware and ambulatory unless you plan be there frequently to ensure proper care and safety or use cameras to insure they are not ignored.
