I was really surprised that this facility was this poorly managed and certain staff members really didn’t care. My parent room floor was always dirty and the response time to the call light was just about a hour later. I was truly sadden. Would not recommend unless changes take place

Where do I begin?
My mom was there May/June 2024. Here are my thoughts.

The night staff needs training in manners. They are rude. My mother is diabetic. Although the dietitian put her diet on the menu, the kitchen put heavy carb loads on my mom's plate. On one occasion, I tried to ask the nurse about switching the food, and she tried to ignore me. I had to elevate my voice to get her attention. My 16year old saw the nurse roll her eyes. I thought I heard her give a heavy suck-teeth-sigh. It wasn't until I stated out loud that I leave reviews, that her attitude changed. On another occasion, a guy came to help and softened his tone when he saw me vs my mom. The food was often cold. They check glucose numbers backwards and are reactive vs proactive. This means they let her glucose go high, then treat it vs the sliding scale before eating. My mom stayed over 200 most of the visit. When it was time to be released, they changed the date by one week. She was cleared to go home. I appreciate the unlimited hours, but there's no button to press to get out after 8pm. You have to find someone. One night, several of us were stuck, and an older guy manually opened the doors. There was a male patient across from my mom who was known to roam. I wish they watched him closer. One day, my mom had to scream to keep him out of her room. And they need cross-training. I should be able to ask the CNA what time PT is coming the next day.

On the plus side, the admin person was nice. I trusted the skills of OT & PT. The activites were nice. The location is conviennent.

The staff is awesome! My dad stays here for long term. He likes the staff. Food is also very good! They have lots of attractions like movie day, going out lunch, Walmart shopping and physical therapy activities . The facilities are also in good condition . I give 5* to Dulles Rehab!

In general, the staff is outstanding. The director, Leslie Ruffner, is intelligent , sensitive and very present.. The nurses and aids are kind and caring. In particular, I sing the praises of Lillian and Abey. They are always ready to go beyond expectations. I know my husband is in good hands.

Very good location. Friendly staffs. Big room with private clean restroom. Tivi with all channels, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. Physical therapy 5 days/week.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.

I have never been so appalled and saddened by the medical community. My grandmother is in recovery from open heart surgery. THE FIRST DAY IN, she has faced what so many other 1 star reviewers faced. I don't understand how "professionals" who would select this line of work could be so willingly negligent, lack any sort of sympathy, empathy OR professionalism. My grandmother hit the call button for assistance getting up and was told to NOT hit the button because "they'll come and check on her on their own". Ready for the best part? The doctor in charge is out for super bowl weekend. So I guess anyone else who may needs real assistance is out if luck till Monday too.
If my mother had not come in this morning to make the phone calls the staff was supposed to have made by the way; I don't want to think of what would have happened...!! Not to mention my mother had to make sure they actually gave my grandmother oxygen (which she presently needs!)
We are doing everything at this moment to have her transferred to a competent facility that will actually HELP THEIR PATIENTS.

We have submitted a formal complaint due to the nursing staff’s mismanagement of medication - type and dosage - on three separate occasions. This negligence was potentially life threatening and was only adverted because the patient recognized the errors and alerted staff. As our family member no longer feels safe at this facility, we will be removing her immediately, so that she can receive proper care and continue her healing process. We are very much concerned for the health and safety of other patients, and hope that the subsequent investigation will be thorough and transparent for the sake of current and future patients at Dulles Health and Rehab Center.
