Our son was admitted to the RNRU on November 1 2017. He couldn't walk or talk and had to be fed through a peg (a tube into his stomach). This followed emergency surgery at Queens Hospital, Romford, in June 2017 after he suffered a brain injury during an assault. He also spent time at Southend Hospital, but the least said about that the better.
Within five months, thanks to the expertise and dedication of the RNRU staff, he was walking, talking and eating normally.
Our family cannot speak highly enough of the treatment our son received in the RNRU.
We were kept fully informed of his progress all the way through his treatment by the friendly and professional staff.
Every single member of staff we encountered, whether it was a consultant, a doctor, nurse or orderly, was friendly and helpful, so much so that we were all on first name terms by the time our son was discharged on July 13, 2018.
Especially effective was the physiotherapy he received along with speech and language therapy and occupational therapy.
The unit's social worker was especially helpful in directing us towards the assistance that would be available to him when he left the unit.
The unit's psychologist was also of huge assistance in helping our son and his family come to terms with his injury and his rehabilitation.
Anyone who is admitted to the RNRU, and their family, can be assured of the best possible care.

Stay away from that hospital especially RNRU if your loved one is diabetic. They have no clue how to treat diabetes. Wasted my husband 3 months in there at the end we have been discharged without rehab
