Recently had a family member at TLR. We had done lots of research trying to find a good quality facility. Sadly, TLR was not what it appeared. Family member was there for two weeks before “leaving against staff advice”. 4 beds per room, not the two pictured in the website. No electronics allowed, which is ok, but if you don’t have an alarm to get to the med window for meds, you are SOL. My FM missed the med window and they refused to give him his PSYCH meds for the entire day. “We treat dual diagnoses” is a joke if you are withholding meds from a patient with severe major depressive disorder. We sent FM’s home meds with him to TLR. Those did not all come home with him.when we asked that the missing meds be sent to us (we are an 8-hr drive away), we were told, “since he left against staff advice”, we only give them lifesaving meds when they leave. Uh, no! That is theft. We are reporting that to the licensing board as this has not been resolved. Residents are provided with very small amounts of food, much of which was really subpar. For instance, those pre-made cereal “bowls” you see in the grocery store - you get two for breakfast and that’s it. You are belittled if you have digestive problems and can’t eat what’s prepared and say, for instance, you ask for a PB & J. We are happy for those men that have been helped by TLR. In my opinion, it’s kind of like dieting- a specific diet can help a subset of dieters, but it’s unlikely to help them all. There are a lot of programs out there that are in it for the money. Increasing the number of residents to inappropriate amounts, increases profit, but doesn’t help patients. Just disappointed that TLR did not deliver on all of their promises.
