My wife and I love this place! The staff is very nice and seem happy to be there. The yurts are fun, and the food is wonderful. What a great value. In our experience, the pools always had plenty of room and felt welcoming. We'll be back!

I can not recommend this place enough! It was so peaceful. The room was wonderful. Breakfast and dinner were provided. The food was delicious, and there was enough to be satisfied until the next provided meal. We just had a light snack for lunch. I wouldn't take younger children, but I went with my mature 12 year old daughter and she really enjoyed it. Very relaxing. I wish it were a little closer, but it was worth the 3 1/2 hour drive.

Every single detail - from large to tiny - about our stay and about this place was magickal! We WILL be back again and often. I love this valley, I love the Great Sand Dunes, and this place has become the icing on top of the cake for me! Thanks to the staff and a great facility, we had an absolutely perfect soak and stay under the full moon and the beautiful San Luis Valley skies!

I'm no kind of princess but I found this place to be dirty. Very dirty. I sat outside the sauna waiting to go in until there was room and as I sat there, I noticed how dirty the place is; peeling paint and dirt abound. (Also, the sauna is not that hot, either. I didn't even break a sweat after sitting in there for 15 minutes.) The hot pools themselves aren't really pools, they're more like giant tubs. And they're dirty. Bugs and hair floating everywhere--so gross. The cooler pools weren't even hot. The hot pool which is supposed to be 106 to 108 was decidedly cool. Not a whiff of steam was even coming off this pool. (View the photo--do you see any steam?) There are countless signs about using a quiet voice and respecting others' space, but the place was loud and full of loud chatter. There was no peace to be found at this place. Regarding the showers; there's no place to hang a towel to dry off with or even to hang your bathing suit while you're showering. Would it be too much to have a small machine which helps wring the water out of the suits? Or have a place to hang the wet suit while getting dressed? I'm glad I only paid $12 for my visit rather than the standard rate. For $12, I guess you get what you paid for. The person who checked me in -- was totally checked out: didn't look at me, acknowledge me, offer a towel, nothing, zero customer service. Forget this place, save your money, and go to the legit soaking pools at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. They're clean, well maintained and have stellar customer service.

There’s a lot of different pools. I prefer the hot one. Last time it was 108°, which is fine. It gets up to 112 to 15. That’s probably too hot. A Jacuzzi tub and cold dip there’s a body temperature pool I think it’s too cold in the cold weather. The pool by the door is probably the best one, but it can get real crowded everybody likes that pool.
Nice view the mountain view was great. They put some wind blocks up, but you can see through them. .

They have showers and lockers, and toilets. There’s a sauna. It’s not that hot in the sauna though and you can’t add water and there’s no special smell.

It’s a pretty far drive from Alamosa, but I’m not going to Hooper anymore. They put something in the water. It makes everybody itchy.

Have had good experiences here in the past but have had pretty bad experiences the last couple of times, On this visit I had a bad experience with a manager there while walking my special needs rescue dog. No matter what we have tried, she will not potty off leash. I took her to the edge of the property and took her off leash for a few minutes to potty. This staff person opened the door to the yoga hurt and yelled at me to put my dog back on leash. When I tried to explain why she was off for a few minutes, she slammed the door. While I acknowledge that I broke the rule by taking her off leash to potty, there are ways to get a message across that are kind and compassionate. And then I guess there is her way. Life is too short and there are too many wonderful and beautiful hot springs in Colorado to put up with folks who are not sincerely kind. Going forward, I will spend my money and time in those places. I gave 2 stars due to the views of the mountains and beautiful night skies

We very much enjoyed a weekend at Joyful Journey. Five stars for the wonderful, friendly staff and hot springs. Four stars overall because the locker rooms were noticeably dirty and the car camping was close quarters with audible highway noise. Enjoyed healthy, ingredient forward food and interactions with chefs who clearly put love and passion into their work. Highlight of our stay was Sat morning yoga with Nancy who taught with fun energy. We look forward to visiting again and again.
