Do not judge a book by its cover. Although the place is a little more shabby than chic- the staff is the secret to the sauce. Everyone has been pleasantly agreeable and prompt. The more proactive the family, the better you can buffer and advocate.

I am only giving one star for the kind receptionist and the only one old male nurse that took care of my father with so much care. Otherwise, this facility does not deserve any star at all. Under their care, my father fell twice. His health worsened and he had to be admitted back to the hospital. My father had a horrible experience. Whenever he called aid nurses, they would come in and respond rudely showing attitude. The young nurses would laugh at my father from behind and make faces. They try to show they are nice but I clearly saw their faces as they pretend to show any emotions. The whole floor stinks Iike urine. They need to upgrade the rooms. They didn’t have my father’s medicine ready. They even had my father share a room with a lady! Seriously? That lady smoked weed and came to the room. My father had breathing problems. The female Supervisor was trying to talk loud, trying to prove her point right instead of listening to the family. Again, this place serves no stars. I only gave one star to the that one old male nurse and receptionist.

My mother in law was here at the end of her life. It was a pit. Nothing against Leon or the rest of the staff, but they seem understaffed and under appreciated. We found her on the floor in a pool of her urine and other issues.

Humboldt House is a very friendly place. The residents and staff are nice. Some of the staff can be a little impatient with residents and lack understanding on how to handle difficult residents. The meetings went really good for care. The quality of food is a little above average. I enjoyed breakfast the most, very delicious!

I became very close with both my roommates. We exchanged contact and we are now friends. One of my roommates I helped by letting her use my phone. We often shared ordered food and shared hygiene products. Some of their loved ones adopted me as their own family. One thing I would have appreciated is the ability to frequent outside with the warm weather.

This place is good because of the people who work here.From the kind receptionist to the facilities. Everyone is very helpful anytime they are asked. The PT department gets special honors imo. Kudos to all the staff.
I emphasize the only reason my loved one is here is because of those kind people.

I give the NHRC Acquisition LLC . minus 100 They are a for profit company that is NOT investing their monies back into the facility. This is the saddest part for the patients, staff and administrators. Sherman should be ashamed that this building is in rough shape. They are good at covering it up. First floor all new and updated. Every floor you go up it gets more unkept and outdated . The 4 th floor is the worst. SHAME ON NHRC ACQUISITION LLC!!! Worst of all they own many facilities in NY and Ohio. The ratings would be great if NHRC would bring the building up to par for DIGNITY of all involved but especially the patients!!! Some of these patients have no one to advocate for them so I’m going to do my part and make it known.

Humboldt House staff is both kind and inviting. Friendly atmosphere among residents. Nutritional diets are considered. Nurse check in on guess is appreciated. Humboldt House could use a little rennovation on 3rd floor.

Residents develop relationships. One resident brought my wife who rarely gets out of bed the tube of lotion that she won in the bingo game.

My wife was in a large room of four. She likes people around to talk to. Private rooms can be isolating.

Staff and residents enjoy my dog which I often bring with me. And my dog likes visiting the residents and staff.

Staff care about the residents and give encouragement. The physical therapist is especially charming and manages to get my wife out of bed for exercise. Really amazing.

The staff doctor was open and cooperative in end of life discussions. Our views were respected and followed.

Now four months after my wife's death, I come back with my dog to visit other residents. Staff remember me and my wife and my dog. I like to give back for the care she received.
