I was involved in Sierra Health and Wellness for almost 9 months. I was coming out of a 10 year long heroin addiction where I was on the streets and in and out of jail. I had the most wonderful experience with the counselors that were there. So much so that when I was no longer able to make it to their in person location(Rancho Cordova) that I then transfered to seeing them virtually. It was really cool to have the option to also continue my treatment virtually. I went to PHP which is five days a week and all day(I don’t remember what that stranded for) and then moved down to IOP which 3/4 days a week for half the day. I’m pretty sure PHP is only offered for in person sessions.
The counselors that I worked with were Gail and Cicily and OMG!!! They are fantastic people.
I learned a lot of my coping skills and how to manage certain emotions because of them. When I first started out I wasn’t as open with sharing but Gail really got through my hard exterior (a protection I had built from years on the streets)
I started going RIGHT when I got sober And have now hit my one year of being sober from heroin. Honestly I’m so grateful to have been apart of this group and bonded with many of the people that were also in treatment with me. A group of us even went ice skating. Just the pure love I felt from these people. They genuinely cared about my well being and how I was doing
I still get messages from the Gail even though I’m not involved anymore
Just checking up on me. These people genuinely care about helping you stay clean. I really cannot express the magnitude of love I felt from EVERYONE

Even the security guy was just amazing
Honestly I wish I was still going but I benefited from the time I had with them.

I liked the program and they said it took a lot to get kicked out but I guess different rules apply to different people. I was super nice to everyone there.”

Ignore that 1 star review by Matt. He showed up to group drunk a couple of times. I was there… he was the ONLY one who made that mistake. Obviously this behavior can compromise a group in recovery. This place has a brilliant and caring staff who really go above and beyond. I care about the hard working individuals here and to see a damaging review with such embellishments is unfair. Also attending a group because it “takes a lot to get kicked out” kind indicates no interest in trying to put in the work. I wish Matt the best and hope he gets the help he needs.

I have spent over a month now doing the full-day PHP program at Recovery Happens. I can recommend their program very highly based on my experience.

The day is split into two parts: recovery in the morning and mental health in the afternoon. The facilitators for both sessions are excellent and the curriculum they teach is comprehensive, and very helpful in dealing with issues I face everyday.

The facility is very nice and professional, the staff is courteous and there are a lot of nice touches such as good lunches brought in for the clients.

I could not be more satisfied with the care I am receiving.

Very poorly run now. New people who are overwhelmed and only concerned with money. Stay as far away as possible. There are plenty of other options.
