This place is the worst IOP program I’ve ever been to. They do NOT care about helping you and are money driven. I’ve been in the program for about 3 months because I needed help which was difficult to request help in the first place. My counselor, Eleanor Dragonetti, discharged me from the program because they word for word “weren't making enough money off of me” due to the fact that I had mandatory court dates I had to attend on specific dates. Regardless of my mandatory court dates and proof from the courts, they didn’t want to hear it. I had asked if one of the staff, David Tauber, write up in my discharge papers stating the reason I was let go was because of my schedule not working with my court dates in which he agreed to write it up himself personally. Instead he had my old counselor Eleanor Dragonetti, (who is no longer a staff at Turning Point) write up a false report stating my discharge is due to me ‘not answering my phone’ and being ‘disruptive’ in group by being on my phone. I am still in touch with the individuals who attended group at Turning Point with me, where I have witnesses reporting I was never on my phone during group sessions and there is no proof of me missing a phone call when I had to attend a court appearance. They are extremely unprofessional.

4 star yeah ok… I was short term I never saw my counselor showers were freezing. We were not allowed to eat or save our snacks. I wanted to donate a microwave. Because cold food they said no. A lot of free time. I didn’t learn NOTHING.

I just left from there a month ago. It's a wonderful rehab and the food ,workers are great. I would recommend this to anybody. They time out with you. You don't have clothes they will get some from you. Get you on your right meds if needed. The groups that we had were encouraging. The staff is wonderful. Your clothes and linen will always be washed. I love this place. Thank you for all you have done for me.

I won't go into all the details as to why I don't rate this place a 5. I will say tho if you want it it's yours. Your relearning loving & even getting to know yourself. Go in with open eyes yes but at the same time new pair of glasses. Make some friends but watch ya back because they do over crowd. With that being said it's all the more reason to get clean, a big part of our country is dying, this is WAR. Fight the good fight & it starts at turning point they maybe be strict but for good reason. I got clean here & in March I'll have 6 yrs. Yes I am able to count by the yrs bow. Glory to God!

Turning Point of Paterson,NJ is a huge joke. If your looking for a place to go that provides individualized care this is not the place. First of all its a state run facility. The place is a dump. The staff is not required to have any form of degree outside of the counselors. The unit staff are the ones who work with us the most, they run our groups which we are in all day everyday. It's pretty sad that the ones who are suppose to be invested in your sobriety have no formal education about your " disease". There were quite a few incidents that took away from my attention of my treatment while I was there. You are suppose to meet with your counselor twice a week for an hour each time. At this time is when you can make phone calls and only for 5 minutes.. Every time I was to meet with my counselor, instead of being able to address the issues as to why I were there I had to provide details of mishaps that occurred on the unit..and I only got to see my counselor once a week. I felt as though it was a huge waste of my time. If you go there I advise you to make sure you disinfect your bed before you put any bedding on it, because as quick as a girl leaves , you are the one occupying it within hours and no one comes in to clean anything, we are to clean and disinfect our rooms.

This place gives the minimal treatment I found metal in my food while I was staying there I was kicked out for grabbing a shirt from someone else's room the staff is really disrespectful a lot of racism going on in there. Did you not help you with any housing aftercare the medical team didn't even care that they were leaving me to be sick on the street the only one there who cared was the nurse Patrick he's an amazing person who has a great heart and cares he deserves better and to be working at a different place a lot of people should be telling the state how they overcrowd people and mistreat the clients I will definitely be making my phone calls to the state about this place I would never recommend going there if you don't have to.

The facility itself was extremely dirty, there was a ton of drama, and they give the patients expired snacks, however if you can go to this program with an open mind and keeping to yourself isn't an issue then I'd say go for it! The program itself saved my life and the big book meeting brought in on Sundays is fantastic. It's not a cushy rehab but in my opinion rehabs shouldn't be a place where you are comfortable because then some would use it as more of a vacation then a place to get well. So all in all it was a great experience but definitely not for the 'premadona' type.
