Would give zero stars if I could. The whole thing needs to be shut down even the medical facilities. They are negligent to every one including my sister. I wouldn’t wish this place on no one. The people that work there are nasty with no compassion at all. They only come for a check they don’t care about your families. They will let people rott in that place. They need a clean sweep or just shut this facility down. Please just send you loved ones to LIJ OR NYP same them the trouble and trauma. Sorry to the nurses that actually have compassion but to the ones that don’t, you don’t deserve this role it’s not for you, find another profession.

Absolute worst as far as motorized wheelchairs /mobility scooters. Machines constantly breaking down. Spent most of the time in home medical repair shop over and over again. Repairs not supervised. Almost got killed on numerous occasions because the engine shut down in the middle of street with cars, trucks, buses coming. Had to push it manually accross the street. Hurt myself on several occasions and I'm elderly, disabled-almost lost my life.

I left the Mt Sinai rehab 4 days ago. My experience over there was excellent even though my health situation. Be a patient with spinal cord injury is very tough, the life changes drastically but when I got the opportunity to go to Mt. Sinai rehab I understood that this place thought me be confident during my rehabilitation process. And this one should have to continue after that.
The nurses that take care of me were great, three of them were beyond excellence: Ms. Gemma, Ms Mayda and Ms. Meena. Also the nurse's assistant were amazing because they washing me carefully and remember those names: Kerece, Ashley, Teo, Ana, Babita, Moumana.
Regarding therapist I can tell you that I felt the professionalism and dedication. I am so glad that I had Brittney as OTI and Jeffrey as Physical Therapist. I worked with others that were excellent, too. Is valid to mention Rose the therapist manager, every day she visited the room to say hello. The doctors demonstrated their experience and knowledge about my condition. They were clear and if I had a question they had the courtesy to answer it. My respect for Dr. Huang.
Also, I would like to mention the recreation department, they are doing very nice job.
Thank you Mt. Sinai rehab!

I was told this would be a great place for my mother to recover from her stroke . I beg you if you have an elderly patient who needs compassion and respect in a nice warm environment to progress this is not the place . There are Very few nurses who are nice on the floor to help . I will say Dr. wilke was very nice to talk to and Caroline from PT was very nice
Bottom line , my mother made zero progress over 4 weeks . The atmosphere there is dingy and depressing
She’s home for 2 days with private home therapists and she made more progress then 4 weeks in rehab
The social worker office on the 3rd floor are anything but caring and helpful . We were ignored for 3 days when we asked to speak to them . Look for a better place

I have a friend in the rehab center with a Spinal cord injury. I came to stay with her and all she could talk about is her horrible treatment with the nurses there. She can only move her head presently so she needs someone to be with her at all times.

They’re rude to her and her mother. They have issues bathing her, they’ve injured her while moving her, they’ve caused her pain and they give her attitude when she tries to defend herself. I was so upset because she is the sweetest most amazing person and to think she’s being mistreated breaks my heart.

Something needs to be done. The staff deals with patients with all kinds of illnesses and injuries and they need to be sympathetic and properly trained.
This is is not ok!!!

My mother was there for 2 weeks (in October)and it was okay. She stayed on KCC3. The unit is old and needs a total HGTV makeover. First, impression is everything--- the enviornment looked depressioning, and I believe the energy there was toxic. There was only one nurse
( RN)and patient care techinican ( PCA) who were phenomenal on KCC3 and their names are Alice,RN and Calamita, PCA. Alice is a veteran nurse on the unit and you can tell by her action and her approach to providing quality care. Literally, she was the only nurse who could make my mom smile; everytime my mother saw her she smiled. The pros of this place is that it is located in the hospital. The con is some staff members lack compassion, lack of communication between the doctors' and nurses', and honesty. Also, for this institution to be Magnet in nursing care, I was disappointed with their lack care. I understand nurses balance a lot and some family members can have unrealistic expectation,I'm a nurse, too, and totally understand, but what I won't accept is a complete disregard to patient dignity, respect, and genuine compassion in serving others. Eventually, we got my mother transferred to Baker17 acute care rehab at New York Presbyterian Weil Cornell. It was the best decision we made her her. We were happy the moment we enter the unit. Baker 17 was welcoming and clean; Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech therapy were amazing. Shawn, my mom PT at NYP was by far the best person to get my momma up and moving. Our mother progressed better here versus at Mount Sinai KCC 3 acute care rehab. I write this all to say do your research for acute care rehab before your loved one is transferred. It will save you the unnecessary headache.

The physical therapy was great . Nursing staff was pretty bad. Psychologist was amazing. And the social worker totally screwed me for months. I guess she was quitting in a week so she didn't really care

Without giving a specific reason, Dr. Corey Hunter, rudely refused to honor my 6 visit referral. “We don’t do that here.” He said in a sarcastic, condescending tone. His rudeness was totally uncalled for.
