Just spent 25 days at Desert Hope and they definitely deserve 5 stars! I enjoyed all of the group's and have such a clean and fresh mindset. The nurse upstairs (Mrs.Roberta) was AWESOME if you have any problems at all ask her for help. The T.A.s were also great! My therapist and case manager handled all my needs for aftercare! There were lots of complains from people about having to leave early bc of insurance but I didn’t have any problems with that. Oh and the food was top notch; not what you would expect at a rehab. The rooms are like a hotel but no T.v. (Housekeeping comes and cleans them every morning) However you can watch T.v in the Rec rooms, play ping pong, board games, cards etc. they also have a volleyball court outside. You can smoke whenever you want, and you get your phone back after 72 hours. Awesome place! If your looking for serious help I definitely recommend here.
(Pictures of meals because they were amazing!)

The facility is amazing. The staff is hit or miss (lots of inconsistent rules and what's allowed or not depending on who you talk to) the online and admissions handbooks for rules NEEDS updated. And my biggest problem is their communication with insurance.

Kitchen staff is very unfriendly. They got upset with me when I said I didn't eat pork and wouldn't accommodate my diet. I had to go speak to supervisor to get chicken instead. They are super tight on the food you get. I asked to get another ice cream because they were so tiny after I seen one girl go up four times. I was told I couldn't get another one. The gym is the smallest I have ever seen. All the basketballs for the court are flat. The staff are rude and unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend this facility. Even rooms are hot in the desert and the ac is broke and won't go past 70. Dirty water. Place is not clean.

The best investment I've ever made in my life! Excellent staff, room and boarding, and meals. Classes are very repetitive but necessary, informative, and well structured. My counselor Mrs Jaclyn, TA Lawrence and Linda, instructors Richard and Sharon absolutely made the experience worthwhile and appreciated!! THANK YOU DESERT HOPE. FOREVER GRATEFUL ? QUINCY

ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO VOLLEYBALL AT 7pm daily ?

This place is lucky to get 1 star. I was lied to many times and treated with no respect as well. Drugs all over the facility and is more of a homeless shelter than a rehab. 3 yrs ago was a much nicer experience. I don't know where to begin as far as there lies go but seeing the doctor was one. The TA said I would be seen by 12 that day when I asked why I was not seen it was on there notes I was seen! I went up but the doctor wasn't there n the lady said I didn't wake up but I was literally in my room waiting all day then just said what I wanted. Next it took 2 days to see a doctor on a separate instance! Worst was the way they handled my payment. My wife drove 5 hrs to take them cash n I told admissions 3x to not take the full payment as I needed some cash on my discharge as I lost my wallet. They not only took the payment but didn't notify me! Once I told them she said she already processed payment. This was after her opening the door saying she was closed n what did I want! Of course my case manager had let her know I was going over as it was urgent only to open with those remarks. On the days before my discharge again I talked to the business office about me possibly having to leave a day early due to my transportation n asked if I would get a refund for that day she said no way I would get that money back. They put me on the maintenance program and the doctor and case manager wondered how that happened without seeing a doctor as that's not protocol. On the day I left the nurse station was confused because no one had noted I was leaving that was after telling my counselor, case manager, and someone from the business dept I was leaving again no communication and everyone was lost. That's not to mention the non working AC in alot of rooms, ants and bugs, dirty pool, dirty trash the whole place smells like sewage and the horrible food. I am going to talk to my lawyer based on the lies, the place they handled everything while I was there, specially the way they handled payment and were willing to leave me high n dry with no cash n no wallet! Both ladies at the business dept need to be looked at. This place made me worse than helped me. If it wasn't for me meeting Tommy n finding God through him I was say nothing ABSOLUTELY nothing good came from this place! They owe me money an apology and my lawyer will see my options

I can’t rave about this place enough. I came to Desert Hope seeking detox and treatment for alcohol. They got me on a plane from Phoenix same day and made me feel right at home. They were friendly, transparent, and thorough through the admissions process.

By the time you get to your room, your belongings are searched, then you are taken into the hands of the caring nursing staff. Detox is exhausting and overwhelming but the nurses check in on you constantly which gives you a huge sense of relief. You are stripped of electronic devices for 72 hours but there is a community phone near the nurses station to keep in touch with loved ones.

The kitchen staff is amazing! They accommodated to my vegetarian/vegan diet once I communicated it to the nurses. I couldn’t have survived all those weeks without their efforts, I am so grateful for them!

The TA’s are respectful and full of personality! They are there to make sure you’re safe and where you’re supposed to be. They have zero tolerance for rule violations so if you want to be on their good side, follow the rules! I miss them!

The cleaning staff works so obviously hard to keep everything clean, so be mindful of your trash!

You get what you put into the program. Some people enter the program thinking someone else can fix them. You are there to learn the tools and do the work. The groups are designed to understand your relationship with addiction. There is a copious amount of knowledge you have at your disposal from brain chemistry, processing emotions, nutrition, relapse prevention, time management, and so much more. If you’re here to get sober and stay sober then you’ll want to soak up everything for what it’s worth. I love that they balance the groups with mandatory recreational time on Saturdays and Sundays when you can’t post up in your room. Instead, you have to spend time in the art room, gym, watch a movie, play competitive ping pong, or go outside for volley ball, basketball, or laps around the facility.

Not all the groups are so serious, they also incorporate social games and activities that remind you of how fun sobriety is. I appreciated the balance of mental, emotional, and social practices I got to experience. Hands-on participation becomes imperative skills that transfer into your real life to help you be successful. Not to mention, the friendships you gain attending these groups. You will meet people you never dreamed of with similar struggles as you. You leave rehab with a support group like no other! I talk to most of them every single day!

I am eternally grateful for Desert Hope. It opened up my eyes to my independence, my choices, and my desire to live. I’m so thrilled that my experience has inspired my brother to admit himself there as well. I highly recommend any out of state folks because they will do what they can to pluck you out of your triggering environment and take the best care of you if you’re serious about your sobriety.

Thank you everyone at Desert Hope!

Overall great experience. I think that having patients hit the ground from Day One is awesome, the staff were incredibly friendly and polite, and the group sessions were very informative and well-explained. The Nutrition class, I found especially interesting, and that is impressive in itself because up until then, I wasn't interested in nutrition, but the instructor got into the nuts and bolts of it, what happens chemically, etc. Great instructor.

If I was going to make improvements in any areas, I would make sure that every single patient got a patient handbook or itinerary. It was three days before I got one, and I had to ask for it. My roommate never got one either. Also, it takes an awful lot of time to get something done there, usually. For instance, I never did get the extra pillows for my broken arm that was ok'd by the doctor in my first week. I didn't really need them, so I didn't remind anyone, so it was on me, really.

But, as far as level of care goes, they did an outstanding job and I would recommend these guys to everyone.
